Nag Panchami is a traditional worship of snakes, celebrated by Hindus throughout the India. This festival falls on the fifth day of bright half of Lunar month of Shravana or July/August according to the Hindu calendar. On this sacred day, devotees keeps silent fast for snakes and Lord Shiva. <br /> <br />सावन माह की कृष्ण पक्ष की पंचमी तिथि को मौन पंचमी के रूप में मनाया जाता है। यह पर्व सावन के 5 वें दिन पड़ता है। इस तिथि के देवता शेषनाग हैं इसलिए इस दिन भोलेनाथ के साथ-साथ शेषनाग की पूजा करना शुभ माना जाता है। इस दिन भगवान शिव की आराधना कर मौन व्रत रखने का महत्व है। मौन का अर्थ है- चुप रहना या बात न करना। इसलिए यह तिथि मौना पंचमी के नाम से भी जानी जाती है |
